THE OFFICIAL: “READER’S CHOICE TOP WHATEVER LIST”
Top (insert #) album of the year lists elicit a lot of opinions. They are loved because it allows listeners to discover new music they may have missed, or take a moment to look back on the music that moved them in the past year. They are hated because everyone has a different opinion on everything (rightfully so) and they often times can be pushing a certain agenda, imagine that!
A few weeks back, Old Rookie named its TOP 30 ALBUMS OF 2014. It was received very positively, but there some glaring omissions without a doubt. That is what happens when Courtney Barnett is inexplicably forgotten, out of nowhere, D’Angelo pops up after 14 years and J. Cole puts out perhaps the best hip hop record in years a week after the dumb list comes out.
Above all, a sincere thank you to everyone who submitted their top albums of the year. In No particular order, below are some great albums not originally included on the first list. Take a listen. Happy 2015.
