I’ll Be There is the first single from Nile Rodgers of CHIC in 23 years, but the funk/soul/disco legend has stayed plenty busy since then, producing for Sister Sledge, Sam Smith and Pharrell with last year’s Daft Punk earworm, Get Lucky.
With Tuxedo, D’Angelo, Kendrick Lamar and the recent infusion of funk and soul coming back to the musical landscape, Nile Rodgers is a man who clearly knows what he is doing. For the time traveling video, Rodgers adds vintage CHIC performance footage from Soul Train, supermodel Karlie Kross dancing around in underwear listening to old CHIC records and Nile himself wailing on the guitar in a New York nightclub.
If you can involve Karlie Kloss and Don Cornelius in the same video, you are a born winner.
