People in the Spotify offices are treated to some pretty unique performances. D’Angelo was in New York for some extended takes on his latest, outworldly, Black Messiah.  As if it were possible, He and his band, the Vanguard sound equally as tight and smooth as they do on the LP as they weave through few tracks mixing in a few surprises like jamming straight from Betray My Heart into Spanish Joint from Voodoo. They close the set with Prince’s She’s Always In My Hair. 

Realizing that this is the exact marketing purpose for these performances, but if you don’t have Spotify, it may be worth downloading for this session alone. The 4-track session is 32 minutes of pure enjoyment and if you don’t feel that way, how could you be so… (click)
