Kevin Morby’s songs can be dark, but he manages to make the darkness shine through without the heaviness of it all becoming too overwhelming. Formerly the bassist for the band Woods, Morby has stepped out on his own and created a unique flavor to the proverbial “singer/songwriter” title. His voice and instrumentation are both unique and are thoroughly captivating.

2014’s Still Life was about as good as album as you can listen to front to back. April 15th will see his new release, Singing Saw come out on Dead Oceans. The first single off of the album has a new video and it’s heavy and fun at the same time. I Have Been To The Mountain was directed by Phillip Lopez and stars Nathan Mitchell dancing about in a hospital in his underwear with no one noticing or caring. The premise of the video was based off of Eric Garner and some of the useless killings haunting our country in recent years.

The dancer, Mitchell, starts on his deathbed with loved ones gathering close. As he passes, his soul is awarded one last dance and he takes full advantage.
