Hailing from a remote and isolated town in Norway, Klangstof (meaning “echo dust” in Norwegian and Dutch) came onto the scene in mid-January with the song Hostage debuting as a world premiere on Beats 1. With hints of inspiration from artists like Radiohead and Thom Yorke, Klangstof uses heavy synth, drums, and guitar to back the haunting and melodic vocals of lead singer, Koen Van De Wardt.
Since Hostage, Klangstof released two new songs titled, Amansworld & Island.
Both songs are dreamy and moody with minimalistic harmonies that appropriately personify the isolated nature of Koen’s upbringing, in which he originally learned to make music by himself. Klangstof recently signed with up-and-coming L.A. label, Mind of a Genius, which also boasts artists Gallant, Zhu, and They.
With all respective label-mates releasing albums and going on tour this year, lets hope Klangstof follows suit.
Do what’s good for you and listen to Klangstof.
