New Orleans singer songwriter Esther Rose released the wonderful new record How Many Times. A staple performer around her home town, her songs are reaching a wider audience as the alt-country genre expands beyond each cities’ individual scenes. Rose has a bit more traditional sensibilities than some of her counterparts, leaning heavily on the lap steel and country fiddle, but How Many Times expands further into proper folk and pop jaunts.
A song like Keep Me Running is the perfect on-the-run post breakup songs. My Bad Moon is classic country tune you’d hear 30 years ago, keeping with the tradition. How Many Times is full of stories of the road, of up and downs and the drive to keep running.
