TWO NEW TRACKS FROM SAM DEW. REMEMBER THIS MAN’S NAME

By Colin Dierckins

Singer-songwriter, Sam Dew, made a surprise appearance on Sunday night’s MTV VMA Awards, accepting an award on behalf of Taylor Swift and ZAYN for the song I Don’t Wanna Live Forever (Fifty Shades Darker). Dew co-wrote the song with fellow singer-songwriter Jack Antonoff. The majority of the audience were probably unfamiliar with Dew, who Antonoff described as his “favorite new artist in the world.”

“New Artist” is a relative term in this case. Dew’s fantastic debut EP, Damn Sue, was released back in 2015 on RCA Records and his writing credits include penning songs for such artists as Wale, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, and Jessie Ware, among others.

Most recently, the Chicago-born artist has saved some of his material for himself, which he debuted over the past couple of days in the form of two tracks: Runner and Remember. Dew’s soulful crooning serves as the main instrument on both tracks that we can only hope is the start of a full-length LP in the near future.
