Liz Cooper & The Stampede are out traversing the United States with fellow hard-to-describe favorite, Phosphorescent. Like Phosphorescent, Cooper and band create layered sonic textures ranging from psychedelia to folk rock, yet hard to pin down in any one category.
Cooper has taken an odd route to a career in music. Growing up in Maryland, she went to college on a golf scholarship, but left after one year to persue to the Nashville dream. The debut record, Window Flowers, features gorgeous sunny sounds with a modern Nashville sound, but with a slight oddity. The same attitude that would seem to justify leaving college and golf, to go make a record in Tennessee shines outwardly on Window Flowers. Underneath the songwriting and musicianship, there is a noticeable edge to the overall vibe.
Listen to Window Flowers, and be sure to catch Liz Cooper & The Stampede opening up for Phosphorescent NOW.
