Kassi Valazza resides in Portland but she has been the road these days more than any time in her career. She’s got a lot to show for it and more stories to tell. Originally from Arizona, her Southwestern roots have always shown through the more traditional country sounds. Her debut LP, Dear Dead Days lent itself as a fantastic introduction to her music. Valazza’s new EP, Highway Sounds builds off her old-timey vocals and pedal steel, and injects a subtle dose of desert rock, the type of landscape-filled colorful sonics you’d find on a Quentin Tarantino soundtrack.
